Providing additional supplemental food distributions during alternate time frames

About Food Mobiles…

Food Mobiles are additional food distributions, without eligibility restrictions, provided at alternate hours than our regular services. We partner with Good Shepherd Food Bank to provide this service and we aim to host these distributions monthly.

Thanks to a mobile pantry vehicle managed by Good Shepherd Food Bank, we are able to host these food mobiles at various times and we have the possibility of hosting them at alternate locations. The mobile pantry enables distribution of fresh produce, meat, canned goods, and bread at safe temperatures and conditions.

The Growth of Food Mobiles

Food mobiles provide another way for our organization to address some of the barriers our constituents face in accessing food. Thanks to the nature of this program and the support of Good Shepherd Food Bank, we are able to schedule our food mobiles during later hours and ‘off pantry days’ to open up additional access points for those in need.

This year we have been able to take additional steps in increasing accessibility by offering food mobiles at an alternate location (the Town Office in Harpswell). This effort is enabling us to test one potential model for service expansion and is already yielding useful feedback to inform future plans.
