Join the fight against hunger by becoming a volunteer at MCHPP.

Cooking in the kitchenSoup Kitchen

Volunteers are needed to help cook, serve meals and help with clean up Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For information call Annette Muttel at 729-8647.



Kitchen volunteers Food Pantry

Volunteers are needed to help distribute food to clients, enter client information on our computer and assist with carry-out on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A volunteer in the Food BankFood Bank

Help collect produce, meats and bread products from local supermarkets from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Volunteers are also needed to sort food and prepare food boxes for distribution to clients in our Food Pantry.

Kitchen dutyPressed for time?

If you would like to join the fight but lack the time, consider:

  • Sponsoring a food drive at your place of employment (see below for instructions)
  • Bringing non-perishable food items to your house of worship on a regular basis
  • Serving on one of our Board Committees
  • Making a tax-deductible contribution to us by clicking on this link or sending a check to the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, 84A Union Street, Brunswick, Maine, 04011.

Food Drive Instructions

We appreciate your organization’s efforts to hold a food drive on behalf of our agency. We ask that you use these guidelines:

  • Please let us know your start and end dates and when you plan to deliver or if you would like us to pick up your drive.
  • We would prefer you use banana boxes which will be provided by our agency as they are "user friendly" (they have handles, stack well and are strong). Please do not use any other type of box. Please arrange to pick up the boxes before you begin or we will be happy to deliver the boxes to your organization.
  • If you would like to sort and date check your food drive, please feel free to do so. (i.e., all tomato products together, all canned soups together, veggies together, etc.)
  • All Food Drive items must be non-perishable items.

Items we need most:

  • Tuna
  • Peanut Butter
  • Baked Beans (regular & large)
  • Rice (small & medium)
  • Canned Tomatoes (regular & large)
  • Soups (canned & dried)
  • Spaghetti Sauce
  • Canned Fruit
  • Pasta (all types)
  • Hamburger Helper/Tuna Helper
  • Canned Veggies (Green Beans, Corn & Peas)
  • Canned Fruit
  • Instant Potatoes & Stuffing
  • Any other non-perishable items
  • Personal Care Products
